Dr. Paul Monga is the Director of the Pittsburgh Liver Research Center (PLRC), one of only three NIDDK-funded Digestive Diseases Research Core Centers with a liver focus. Trained in medicine in India and in gastroenterology, hepatology, and molecular biology at Georgetown University, the VA Medical Center, and Temple University, he has over 25 years of experience investigating liver development, regeneration, fibrosis, and cancer.
He is Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology, Associate Dean of Research for the School of Medicine, Senior Vice Chancellor Endowed Chair in Pathobiology and Therapeutics, and inaugural Director of the Organ Pathobiology and Therapeutics Institute (OPTIn). His laboratory, funded by multiple NIH R01s, investigates the process of liver regeneration, with particular emphasis on the role of Wnt signaling in coordinating repair.
As an advisor to SyntherionBio, Dr. Monga brings deep expertise in liver regeneration, tissue signaling, and translational hepatology to guide therapeutic development.
